Real Madrid made a superb start, with Cristiano Ronaldo's right footed shot at post in 4th minute of game. First 10 minutes were fully dominated by hosts, and some brilliant chances were created during this period.

12 minute later, Ronaldo doubled the lead with a world class header at the top of post, by scoring on Isco's cross.

It was Carlos Ancelotti's 100th game as a coach for Real Madrid, who celebrated with a 2-0 victory. This match was also special for captain Iker Casillas, who made his 500th La Liga appearance for Real Madrid.

After Barcelona's horrible show against Malaga on Saturday, it was the best chance for Real to top the table, and make a 4 point gap.

Ronaldo scored his 29th La Liga goal where as Benzema struck his 13th goal.

Next clash will be against Villarreal on 1st of March.
